Hailing from various parts of Ireland, meeting in Dublin, and taking their name from an antiquated and somewhat charming Irish term for lout, ruffian, or street urchin, Gurriers are Dan Hoffon (lead vocals), Ben O’Neill on guitar and backing vocals, Mark MacCormack on guitar, Pierce Callaghan on drums, and Charlie McCarthy on bass and backing vocals.
Released in September 2024 to widespread acclaim, Gurriers’ debut album, Come and See, showcased a searing counterattack on the malaise of the modern age. As the end of the first quarter of the 21st century inched ever closer, our planet precariously teetering from one crisis to the next, rather than passively sit back and watch, Gurriers met the moment head-on with an album of raucous reflection, uncompromising in both sound and sentiment.
Since the release of Come and See, Gurriers have completed three sold-out tours across the UK, Ireland, and much of Europe, including a landmark night at London’s Scala. Their two upcoming shows at Dublin’s Button Factory in December sold out in a day, and the band has continued to make their mark on the live circuit, drawing huge crowds at major festivals such as All Together Now and Beyond The Pale in Ireland, Glastonbury, Truck, and most recently, Green Man in the UK, as well as Rock Werchter, Down The Rabbit Hole, Haldern Pop, and Paredes de Coura in Belgium, Holland, Germany, and Portugal respectively. As Hot Press put it: “Gurriers know how to put on a show and get a crowd to go absolutely mental. They are simply a must see live.”
Latest single ‘Erasure’ is their first new music since Come and See, recorded with debut album collaborator Alex Greaves and mixed by Pelle Gunnerfeldt (Viagra Boys, The Hives). “Erasure” is call and response rock music at its most incendiary.
